This site comes out of years of ordinary life spent in Isola, Milan. Out of the streets we walked to get to work or to show friends around, out of the places we tried in the evening, and out of the itch to explore that the two of us have always shared. We love this lively corner of Milan, not only for the memories we built here but for what it offers: the life on the street, the new city center right next door in Porta Nuova, and plenty more.
In December 2025 we put our loft up for rent and moved back to the province of Turin, where we’re both from. We still come back to the neighborhood, though, and what we know we’re writing down one page at a time. The advice on this site is the advice we’d give our own friends, and we hope it helps.

I came to Milan in 2018 to study at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. I lived in the Romolo area first, then near Sant’Ambrogio, and after graduating, once I found a job, I took a place in Isola. I still work in Milan for a multinational, and I love crossing the city on weekdays and weekends alike, in every season — autumn most of all — always finding new corners and small discoveries.

I got to know the city through Giorgia, first coming up on weekends and then, from 2022, moving in together. I loved Isola from day one: so far from the idea of “chaotic Milan,” so full of life. I’m a registered journalist and I work freelance in digital marketing, and this site is what happens when the two of us pool what we know.
How we know the neighborhood
We’ve covered Isola, and a good part of Milan, end to end. We hosted relatives and a lot of friends, we tried the bars and restaurants at night. We worked here — there are some very good coworking spaces for people doing digital work like ours — we trained in Porta Nuova, we went to museums and exhibitions, we spent Sundays in the parks.
In our small way, we watched a few things change, we picked up information, and we lived a lot of ordinary life. Isola has become something like our second home.
The loft
Our apartment is on the ground floor: small, comfortable, welcoming and well organized. It sits in the heart of the neighborhood, which makes it a good base for enjoying Isola, easy for getting around the city and seeing Milan. It has its flaws too, and we’d rather say them out loud: the front door is old and a little narrow, there are a few steps to go up and down at the entrance, and in the evening you can hear the nightlife outside — for anyone who’s particularly sensitive to noise, we leave earplugs for our guests. If you need total silence to sleep, this may not be the place for you.

How we write
We tried to picture a couple like us, or a group of friends, who had never been to Milan. What would they need? What would help the guests who stay in our place? That’s the question this site was built around.
Opening hours, prices and distances we know from experience, and we check them from time to time, either by coming to Milan or on the official channels. Something can slip past us, of course, but we do our best to be as useful as we can while you’re here.
Every page carries the date it was last checked. We’ll keep updating this site with news, corrections and changes, so that what you read stays reliable.
